90 Parliamentarians express grave concern about Trump’s Jerusalem decision, call for UK leadership in pursuing peace and for the recognition of the State of Palestine

Richard Burden MP, Chair of the Britain-Palestine All Party Parliamentary Group, has today written to the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson concerning US President Donald Trump’s recent announcement of his decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Caabu held its 50th anniversary reception at One Great George Street on Wednesday, 29November. Guests included parliamentarians, ambassadors, and strong supporters of Caabu. The evening celebrated the organisation’s achievement in encouraging and strengthening Arab-British understanding, while outlining the challenges that still lie ahead.

On 6 December 2017, thirteen Caabu delegates spoke in a Parliamentary debate on the effects of Israeli demolitions on Palestinian communities.

UK pressure to save Susiya from Israeli plans of demolition and forced transfer must intensify

Caabu urges the Prime Minister Theresa May, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and the Foreign Office to intensify its pressure on Israel to save the Palestinian community of Susiya (and others like it) in Area C of the West Bank from demolition, displacement and forced transfer – which might well constitute a war crime under international law. Caabu welcomes any British Government effort to stop these demolitions but clearly more needs to be done.
