"The scenes from the middle east over recent months have been utterly horrifying. The loss of innocent life is entirely unjustifiable.
I wish to see an immediate ceasefire observed by both sides. The Israeli authorities must allow the humanitarian aid required into Gaza. And Hamas must release the hostages who have been held captive for months.
Israel must observe and adhere to the provisional measures ordered by the ICC as part of its interim judgment, and wholeheartedly support the independence of the ICC. If we form the next government, we will closely inspect the legal advice received by the government, which this government has refused to disclose, regarding the sale of arms to Israel while the conflict is ongoing.
Ultimately, the only just resolution to the conflict is a two state solution: a viable Palestinian state alongside a secure Israel. We support recognising Palestinian statehood at a point in the peace process that best adds weight and momentum to that peace process. That is so it can best be leveraged to deliver the peace that we all want to see in the region."
