WATCH: Caabu briefing on the ongoing wars in the Middle East

Caabu hosted an online briefing on the ongoing wars in the Middle East on Wednesday 8 April 2026 with Negin Shiraghaei, an Iranian-British feminist, political activist and a former BBC Persian TV news anchor, Dr H.A. Hellyer, an internationally recognised expert on security and international affairs, in the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia, Senior Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies, and Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, and Yezid Sayigh, a senior fellow at the Malcolm H. Kerr Carnegie Middle East Center in Beirut.

In this important discussion, our speakers discussed the ongoing wars across the Middle East and what this means for the region and beyond, including the U.S and Israel's bombing of Iran and Iran's strikes on Israel, the Gulf and U.S targets, the ongoing genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in the West Bank, as well as Israel's attacks on and invasion of Lebanon which has now forcibly displaced over 1.1 million people (more can be read about that here) and what governments such as the UK could and should be doing.

We hosted a similar such meeting 9 months ago in June 2025, which you can watch here

Indivudual remarks from the speakers can be found below also.
