Child participation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories

Caabu would like to invite members to a briefing on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, looking into child participation in the territories, with a focus on the ongoing "new Intifada". Nasser Atallah, the MENA Regional Director of the Child Rights International Network (CRIN), will also discuss the broader issue of why children and youth are joining IS.

About the Speaker:

Nasser Atallah is the MENA Regional Director of the Child Rights International Network (CRIN). He is the co-founder of the Shoruq organisation which works with Refugee children in Palestine. He is also a General Assembly member of Ibdaa cultural Center in the Deheisheh Refugee camp.

After graduating, in 1995 from Bethlehem University with a BA in Social work and Minor in Psychology, he began working with Defence for Children International / Palestine Section (DCI/PS) as Programmes Coordinator for their Socio-Legal Defense Centers in the West Bank. 

The scope of his work at CRIN includes tackling child rights violations issues in the MENA region including: children in armed conflict, child soldiers, inhumane sentencing and children in conflict with the law. His work includes cooperating with a broad range of NGOs across the region.
