Fruitless bombing -The Times

Dear Sir, This time ten years ago coalition forces started the bombing of Iraq. Sadly it appears that a decade later the UK and US Governments, now orphaned by the rest of the international community and devoid of UN authority, continue to patrol and bomb over much of Iraq. The Government of Iraq remains entrenched, and an increasingly isolated Iraqi civilian population have little room for hope. How can the British government continue adding to the £800 million already spent on this fruitless exercise? How many more Iraqis may perish?

Sir Cyril Townsend
