First Capital Connect to change jibberish signs after Olympic blunder

Posted by on 19 Jul 2012

First Capital Connect's Olympic security announcements in Arabic are completely unintelligible.

In its stations there are signs warning visitors not to leave items unattended, and what do to if such items are found.

The signs are in English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japenese, Russian and Arabic.

However, the Arabic section of these signs makes no sense.

The words are back to front. The characters are not joined up as they have to be in Arabic, even when in typeface.

This oversight does not only represent a lapse in security, but it is also entirely disrespectful to our guests and makes our capital - host city of the Olympic Games - look like a joke.

Caabu would ask First Capital Connect to review their procedures for creating such signs as soon as possible, taking into account the culture and language of our city’s guests.
