Membership Activities

CAABU’s Members are an integral part of the Council.  By becoming a CAABU Member you will be providing valuable support to our main flagship programmes; our Political programme, our Education programme, our work with the media, and our Events programme.

CAABU’s Membership activities:

CAABU Members play an important role in the activities of the Council and the work that we do.

  • CAABU offers a selection of email services, which are useful for those who monitor the media’s coverage of events in the Middle East. Click here to sign up.

  • The Council also has resources to aid our members in writing letters to the Media and lobbying their MPs.  Click here for more information

  • Every year CAABU organises an annual lobby day in parliament offering its members and the wider public the chance to pressure their MPs on key issues; to sign Early Day Motions (EDMs) and to raise these key issues in parliamentary debates.

  • CAABU holds a number of social events exclusively for Members and CAABU guests, often journalists, Parliamentarians and Ambassadors.  These are normally held at Christmas and during the summer.

  • CAABU’s events programme offers a great networking opportunity for those who are interested in the Middle East, Arab world and British-Arab relations, whilst also providing expert commentators on current affairs, along with the Arts and culture. Click here to view CAABU’s events past, present and future.

  • CAABU Members are entitled to special discounts on books, including; some of the most recent titles on current affairs in the Middle East; fiction in English and Arabic; and art, photography and cultural titles.  Click here to go to CAABU’s Bookshop

  • If you would like a CAABU speaker to give a talk in a school in your region please click here for more information on the CAABU Education programme.
  • CAABU also has an Oxford Branch as part of the Council's efforts to reach outside of London.
