Ahdaf Soueif

Best-selling author and cultural commentator, Ahdaf Soueif is a prolific writer whose particular blend of the personal and the political, fiction and history has attracted widespread attention. Her novel The Map of Love was shortlisted for the Booker Prize for Fiction in 1999, while her incisive collection of essays on Arab identity, art, and politics, Mezzaterra: Fragments from the Common Ground, received critical acclaim. She is the founder of the Palestine Literature Festival, which brings Palestinian and international artists together for audiences across Palestine, and was also in Tahrir Square during the protests against the Mubarak regime. She is currently completing a new book, entitled, "Cairo my city, our revolution".
