CAABU works to promote a positive approach to Arab-British relations by providing an unrivalled forum for a diverse range of politicians, journalists, opinion formers and members of the public to co-operate on issues relating the Arab world.

Founded in 1967, CAABU is jointly chaired by a British Member of Parliament from each of the three main parties and has over 120 Parliamentary members.

CAABU is the only full-time professional organisation of its type in the UK.

2007 marked CAABU's 40th Anniversary and we feel very proud of our achievements over the years:

  • Organising parliamentary delegations to the Arab world

  • Engaging with the media for fair and informed reporting

  • Reaching out to the next generation by working with young people and teachers in schools.

Today, there are a host of reasons why CAABU's role is more vital than ever. As the Gulf grows ever more important, there are renewed calls for a public inquiry into the invasion of Iraq, the oppression and dispossession of Palestinians continues, North Africa is still ignored, extremism and intolerance are spreading and Anti-Arab attitudes in the UK are on the rise.

Faced with these huge challenges, our aim for the coming years is to quadruple in size to meet the huge demands of taking Arab-British relations on to a new level.

Our Vision is ...

... of positive and respectful Arab-British relations

Our Mission is ...

... to influence, inform and inspire in the fields of politics, media and education in Britain
