Vyvyan Kinross

After completing a degree in Modern Arabic Studies at the University of Durham, Vyvyan became a journalist specialising in Middle East affairs before switching into public relations as PR Manager for the Jeddah Expo Centre in Saudi Arabia. 

In 1987, he co-founded his own marketing & PR consultancy which grew into a top 50 company with a portfolio of UK and international clients spanning government departments and major corporate names such as Shell, UPS and Xerox.  In 2004, he started to focus on specialist training to help organisations develop their capacity and skills in PR and corporate communications and has since designed and delivered professional training for individuals and teams across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, both at home and abroad.    

In 2011, Vyvyan spent six months as a Subject Matter Expert in Abu Dhabi, UAE participating in a major consultancy project to design modern PR processes that enable more effective communications between local government and citizens.  He is among a pool of senior advisors to governments in fragile and conflict affected states, providing specialist expertise in communications and public relations systems.

Vyvyan is the author of ‘The Caterpillar Factory: Kick Start Your Career In The PR Business’, published in 2013 by Matador Business; he has also contributed two units to the curriculum of the UK’s new PR Higher Apprenticeship Scheme.   He is a member of the Public Relations Consultants Association, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and the National Union of Journalists.  

For many years Vyvyan was a Trustee and subsequently Chairman of the Hamlet Trust, a UK based NGO set up to help survivors of the psychiatric system in post Communist central and eastern Europe develop self-help, advocacy and capacity building skills.
