CAABU is currently a small organisation that punches well above its weight. We exist on an annual budget of just under £250,000, yet make a significant impact, improving British politicians' understanding of key issues, engaging with the media for more fair and informed reporting and reaching out to the next generation by working with young people in schools across the country. But we cannot afford to just keep on with our existing activities. Our current budget is simply not sufficient to fight the anti-Arab racism that is sadly on the rise in the UK or to meet the demands of taking British-Arab relations on to a new level. Faced with a serious lack of understanding of the origins and nature of problems besetting the Arab world and the legacy of British policy disasters in the region, it is essential that we do not just follow the agenda but actively lead the way. To that end, we are launching an ambitious new drive to quadruple in size over the next five years in order to meet the huge demand for our work. Increased resources are desperately needed, but with the passion and professionalism of our staff and the goodwill and generosity of our supporters, we are in a powerful position to develop as an organisation and deepen the reach of our work. Raising CAABU's annual income from £250,000 to one million over the course of the next five years would allow us to put into action a ground-breaking programme of work to influence policy, promote public engagement and beat prejudice, ignorance and fear. A significant increase in CAABU's resources would create a major lobby and educational force within Britain and would enable us to fulfill our plans for the future (click here for our 12 point plan). The majority of our annual budget comes from individuals like you and all donations, no matter how large or small, are greatly appreciated. To make a donation click here. |
