CAABU's Internship Programme

CAABU offers a number of voluntary internships throughout the year. These offer an ideal opportunity to get more involved and find out what we do.

Role: Research and Media Intern (voluntary)

Responsibilities: These can vary depending on the time of year of the placement

• Compiling daily news digests of British Broadsheet coverage of the Arab world

• Assisting with research for Parliamentary bulletins

• Research for CAABU literature

• Carrying out research and drafting future web content

• Updating web content

• Attending CAABU events and writing short reports on them

• Media monitoring

• Providing some general administrative support (limited)

Requirements:

• A strong interest and demonstrable knowledge of the Arab world are essential. Ideally suited to graduate or mid-degree student in any of the following: Middle East Studies, Arabic, Politics, International Relations, Journalism or Media Studies, and similar courses

• A good working knowledge of UK media websites is desirable

• Strong written communications skills in English

• Good IT - Microsoft Office (required) , web-updating (desirable), web-marketing (desirable)

• Given the size of our operation, we are looking for someone who is flexible, reliable and a good team-worker.

• Other skills that are particularly helpful at different times throughout the year include events organising, design packages (desirable) and new media

Length of Placements:

• Part-time or Full-time available

• Minimum of 2 weeks, up to 8 weeks

• There is high demand for placements at certain times of year. Whilst we endeavour to give interns their preferred dates, we cannot guarantee this will be possible.
