Voluntary Internships
Be part of the CAABU Team! Media and Parliamentary Affairs Intership - January 2010 We are looking for someone fully committed to CAABU’s aims, with a strong interest in the Arab world, its people and culture, to join our organisation in the newly created position of Parliamentary and Media Affairs Intern. Reporting to CAABU’s Parliamentary Officer you will need a proven track record of studying or working in British politics, with a sound knowledge of how the British political system operates. You will also need a good working knowledge of the Arab world and of key the issues relating to the region. Daily duties will include monitoring of the media and parliament, drafting press releases and statements, attending events related to CAABU’s area of interest and the occasional light administrative work. This position would suit a current student or recent graduate of politics/international affairs or related subject. Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Given the size of our operation, we are looking for someone who is flexible and a good teamworker. IT skills to at least intermediate level are essential (Word/Excel/Access/Outlook). Office hours: 9 30 a.m/5 30 p.m (potentially flexible) Salary: Travel expenses plus subsistence allowance Length of placement: Six months Starting date: Mid-January 2010 This internship will provide the successful candidate with valuable experience of working at an NGO and engaging with both parliament and the media.
